Jerry West's Recurring Nightmare

This account of the NBA logo recounts its history, how it came to be and why Jerry West still to this day, doesn't like it.

I recently wrote about CIBC's weak new identity. This, on the contrary, is a great example of a logo that is more than 50 years old and has remained virtually unchanged, if only slightly refreshed a few years ago.

It made Alan Siegel's career, despite him having designed many of the world's most famous logos, it's still his number 1. If a logo is to be judged by its impact, there are few that are as enduringly impactful, if any.
