We've all seen these Steve Jobs-like presentations introducing a new "revolutionary" product that will change the world, only to see them quietly and miserably fail a few years later.
Dead Startup Toys brings those forgotten products back to the fore, to make fun them, but also to serve as a cautionary tale for future inventors, entrepreneurs and venture capitalists.
Ultimately, if a product (or service) cannot generate enough revenue to remain in production, it's nothing more than its intended target market voting it out of production with their dollars, indicating it failed to meet or exceed expectations or in some cases, that the product has been completely misunderstood. Pricing is a powerful signal that can only be ignored at one’s peril.
Some of these are straight-up fraudulent, while other and misguided or trying to solve too many problems at once.
I also love that they're offering these failed products as a bundle for the design collector. Sadly, they are sold out at this time. I wonder how many of those they did actually sell.
