I'll be the first to admit that I can write stuff that's serious and intense at times. Therefore, on Fridays I'll be featuring something more lighthearted, fun or creative, so we can all end the week on a high note. Have a great weekend!
The Beyeler Foundation is one of my all-time favourite art galleries. The building, designed by RPBW is the epitome of a building taking backstage and serving as a blank canvas to its program, in this case, exhibiting some of the best art in the world.
It’s been quite some time since I last visited it, but I remember vividly the feeling of walking through its ethereal white galleries and daydreaming, while looking at a late Mondrian painting for what seemed like an eternity.
Olafur Eliasson has recently taken over the gallery with his piece “Life” that blurs the boundary between art and architecture, nature and man-made environments.
It’s a much better execution than the much decried “fake lake” from a few years ago, which I had the pleasure (or is it shame) to work on early in my career, when I still had hopes of becoming an architect.
