Since we've all started isolating, I've had the privilege to talk to dozens of people about their situation and how they're responding to COVID. While I cannot possibly list everything I've learned here, I wanted to try and summarize some interesting thoughts in a series of post that I will be running for the next little while.
#2 - Personal Challenges
If anything, these times have been incredibly challenging for everyone, emotionally, physically, mentally, financially, and even spiritually. We all know why.
What's been striking to me is how this crisis has been acting like a focal point on problems we all were dealing with before crisis, but are now hugely exacerbated by the difficult times. One thing that's been very apparent and surprising at the same time is how much difficult times affect us physically and mentally and how everyone's performance at home and at work has significantly declined.
Now is the time to take care of ourselves and make sure that our bodies, minds, and souls are nourished and healthy. The payoffs in the long term are huge, well beyond COVID and if heaven forbid, you ever get it, your strengthened immune system will thank you.
As someone who's been obsessed with health and fitness for the better part of the last 10 years, I cannot overstate the benefits of this. My recommendation? An hour-long walk without distraction every day, like an old-school flâneur. It's accessible to just about anyone and one of the best health ROIs out there.
