In the post-war era and all the way up to the 1970s, the CMHC ran a series of competitions to incentivize Canadian architects to create small house designs, the detailed plans for which could then be purchased for a nominal sum.
The resulting pattern books had hundreds of designs available with complete construction documents, some of the designs by big shots like John C. Parkin, no less.
Thomson architecture is offering to adapt any of these plans to 21st century code and energy standards, instead of reinventing the wheel for every client. What a brilliant idea!
They would get extra points if they figured out how to prefabricate it.
Now I have to figure out a way to build my own.
