I'll be the first to admit that I can write stuff that's serious and intense at times. Therefore, on Fridays I'll be featuring something more lighthearted, fun or creative, so we can all end the week on a high note. Have a great weekend!
Netflix's catalog quality has gone down dramatically since they shifted from a mail-order blockbuster-like business to a content producer, which is understandable as good content is extremely hard to produce. However, every once in a while they pop out a gem that is almost worth the $14.99 a month on its own.
For the last couple of years, they had Hasan Minhaj with Patriot Act. An investigative journalism show that spared no one and got him in trouble a couple of times (the good kind). When he was canceled after only two years I felt a bit let down, but then came Schulz Saves America, by the too-fast-talking-yet-incredibly-funny comedian Andrew Schulz.
While the topics are serious and the points he makes are very valid, it's still a hilariously funny show peppered with arcane pop culture references that hit you in the face like one of Ali's jabs and leave you baffled... until five jokes later when you finally get it and laugh uncontrollably.
This ain't for everyone, the jokes aren't politically correct and will leave some deeply offended, but it's ultimately comedy's power, saying the most outrageous things while being funny. It's all a matter of context. It's a well-crafted show that demonstrates that creativity, humour and honesty aren't mutually exclusive but indeed work really well together to create intelligent, thoughtful yet highly entertaining content.
After watching this, everything else feels... clickbaity.
