Daniel Miessler recently wrote a piece exploring why we procrastinate. As this is a thing that I've struggled with for years (and I suspect many of you have too at some point), I thought you may want to read it as well.
Creativity is messy and non-linear, so making the most of every creative moment is critical for anyone who relies on creativity to make a living. The battle of COVID exacerbates these challenges manifold as many of us find ourselves facing a dearth of paid work. I don't know what the cure is, but what I do know is that taking action and getting some "wins" under our belts is a great hack to get out of a creative rut.
I just started a 30-day challenge to generate $30K in revenue in a month, an ambitious goal if there is one. Almost two weeks in, I'd estimate my likelihood of success at 50/50, but if I didn't try I'll never know how achievable it is and if I fail I'm still going to gain something from it. Generating income in a short amount of time is always a great, albeit short term ego boost that can be capitalized upon to try new things and have access to the resources to solve deeper issues. As I said, I don't know if I'll succeed, but it's well worth a try in my opinion.
What challenges are you taking on to shake your routine up?
